New to Python, need a GUI and some help

Postby hsnoop2 » Sat Sep 10, 2016 8:47 pm

Hey everybody!

So I am working with a professor at my college to build a program that sifts through a nuclear database when given specific parameters. I need the user to have an easy, obvious place to put the inputs to the program, and I need it to display an interactive list of outputs. When I say intractable I mean the user has to be able to select any one of the output results and have the program display more information about that specific option. Can I get all of this from TkInter, or is there an easier better option that I am unaware of as a python padawan?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello,

I don't see why not. You could use the notebook widget which would allow quick switching between data.

You need to import tkinter, and also tkinter.ttk (for the notebook)

And you may want to take a look at Pmw for it's added capabilities (and additional widgets) for tkinter.

Pmw has an excellent demo that allows viewing every widget (and it's code, at the press of a button) from one central application.
