Grr, I wish this had ranked voting. Would (likely) make the neck-and-neck resolved. That said, I voted for python-forum.io but am happy with python-forum.net.
Due to the reasons discussed here we will be moving to python-forum.io on October 1, 2016.

For me, pyforum.io > python-forum.io > python-forum.net.

Just a trendy domain name. It's been around for a while, but I don't know the reason for it becoming so popular to be honest.

Seems more expensive than a .net...

It is. It was about $33 to get python-forum.io at namecheap, but about $12 for python-forum.net. I think we could get python-forum.xyz for less than a dollar.
Due to the reasons discussed here we will be moving to python-forum.io on October 1st, 2016.

I vote to keep "python-forum" something, just because it is more understandable.
I also prefer .net maybe out of history* but also for the price-tag.
After all, I choose python-forum.net

* This .net seems one of the oldest TLDs and quite versatile, also I like clear, catchy names. Actually never heard of interesting .io domains, but okay, I also get .tv and so on which were originally country-specific, but now user in more fun ways. However io seems like a far fetch. What does it even mean? You would have to explain, whereas web and net are obvious in itself.
Due to the reasons discussed here we are moving to python-forum.net on October 1, 2016.

I associate .net with low-quality stuff. Not sure why. The .io has caught on mostly because of I/O being like input/output, a programmer thing. I also like that it's short, though I realize that's silly. I'm definitely ok with .net though, but do have a relatively strong preference for maintaining the python-forum.something format.

Just to throw another wrench in the gears, wouldn't this site be more of an ".edu" suffix? :D

Kidding aside, as I write this, I see that ".io" is slightly ahead in the poll. Perhaps the voters are unaware of the cost difference.

So that means we can have both .io and .net point to the same forum? Nice!

Official results are in:

Code: Select all
pyforum.io       1       7%
python-forum.io  7       47%
python-forum.net 7       47%

So we will use both winners with redirection! :)
