You should make your pictures in an image editor and then import them. Simply make your image, save it in the same folder as your project and then load it by adding something like:
Code: Select all
my_picture = pygame.image.load('picture_name.png')

to your code.

I think there is some confusion on what exactly you are asking. If you are asking how to display an image then you load it as dbox showed and then use the surface.blit function (at least regarding pygame). If you are talking about actually creating pixel art, then this question isn't related to python at all. You create it just as you create any other art; with a paint type program (paintdotnet, graphics gale, photoshop).

There are no short cuts to creating pixel art. In fact I'm pretty terrible at it myself. If however you are interested in devoting the effort, you can't find better than these two communities:

@mekire
after seeing what happened to our plants versus zombies, and us getting stuck at graphics, maybe i should start learning some basic pixel art stuff.

**i wasn't having any fun learning c++ anyways

@cockroach
navigating through mekire's links, i came across:

back to topic
to mess with pixel use paint programs or use pygame.
make a pygame.Surface and use pygame.draw commands
and/or use surface.set_at((x,y), color)

The image is rendered (using blender) as a png, and loaded into Pygame just as any other image would be.

When I type untitled.png into the "save as" thing,
it automaticly saves it as untitled.png.blend
