This is more of a directory to tutorials rather than a tutorial itself, but the links are to some extremely well put together examples of things most programmers do just about any time a program is written.
This tutorial is the PLEAC-Python Project example repository

The material, considered as some Documentation, is wholly released under the Gnu
Free Documentation License http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html except
the Perl part, which is copyrighted by O'Reilly & Associates yet freely available
at http://examples.oreilly.com/cookbook/

An excellent presentation of often needed python tasks.
The code presented on that site is a translation of the PERL solutions found
in the 'Perl Cookbook' (by Tom Christiansen and Nathan Torkington, published
by O'Reilly)
