How to Run a Python Script from a Differnent Directory

Hi all!

I'm fairly new at python programming. However, I do know a fair amount about Linux and computers in general. I am currently using ubuntu 12.10. So, down to business. I have started learning python, and created a seperate directory branching from home to put all of my scripts in. Running the interactive prompt in the terminal after doing a cd into my python directory I'm able to import my scripts OK :D . However, when I use IDLE, it can't find my scripts, and I have no idea on how to change directories in IDLE :roll: . Anybody have any ideas?

Select open, and navigate to a given directory, selecting on the appropriate fiole to open in IDLE

version Python 3.3.2 and 2.7.5, tkinter 8.5, pyqt 4.8.4, pygame 1.9.2 pre
OS Ubuntu 14.04, Arch Linux, Gentoo, Windows 7/8
