Post of the week!

Post of the week!

Postby Kebap » Tue Apr 09, 2013 11:16 am

Here we go again!

Everybody can suggest and vote as many funny, helpful, inspirational, interesting, etc posts, as she likes. Then each week, we get a winner! On top, we also get a long list of great posts! Everybody wins! But also one! I am not sure if I will be around in time to announce every single winner, so feel free again to take matters into your own hands, too. Just like you did before :)

For now I will nominate:

New user and new programmer yet he mystically managed to use code tags and is even trying to learn classes. Would that all new comers were like this.

Creating a python code file from inside python command line, just to show that it can actually be imported and used. Sleek

Yeah, that was pretty cool, and his post may even have led the OP to figure out the issue!

If you give a layperson a script that fixes everything in their life but they need to be able navigate a command line, pass flags, and understand directory hierarchies without being able to click something, you'll have wasted your time.

Hooray for suggesting pragmatic solutions and answering an only halfway python-related question in detailed steps and commands, then ??? profit!

Mekire wrote:There should be a directory on the computer you work on which contains your git repository.

At the moment it should have four files in it:
Code: Select all
.git
.gitignore
readme.md
kill_the_colony.py

  1. Copy the actual graphic files you want to use into this directory.
  2. Change your code to load these graphic filenames directly instead of using the url.
  3. Open a git terminal (in whatever form this manifests on your OS)
  4. Type:
    Code: Select all
    git status
  5. Confirm that your graphics files are listed but not currently added.
  6. Type:
    Code: Select all
    git add *
  7. Type:
    Code: Select all
git commit -m "Adding graphics files to repo."
  8. Type:
    Code: Select all
    git push origin master
  9. Type your github username.
  10. Type your github password (output will probably not show on terminal).
  11. ????
  12. Profit.
