IP Camera stream grabber

Postby newb.py » Mon Jul 15, 2013 4:44 pm

I'm trying to find out information on grabbing IP camera / web cam streams and possibly displaying them in my own frame or cam viewer on the desktop, other than the graphic side of this. Where can i find out how to grab the stream?
Does anyone know of any documentation on this topic? or maybe grabbing the stream and converting it or compression..I'm looking for anything

Thanks guys

I don't quite know how to go about doing this, but I'd start with finding out exactly what you get from the camera, and then figuring out what to do with that in Python. If you want more help from us than that sentence, you'll need to provide at the very least the model of the camera.
Due to the reasons discussed here we will be moving to python-forum.io on October 1, 2016.

Use openCV. OpenCV has a support for python also. It is a great open source platform for image processing.

you can start using it with
import opencv
